eInk Calendar is a private, non-commercial home project: a self-built e-paper display that shows the upcoming appointments from its owner’s own Google Calendar.

What it does

The device consists of an ESP8266 microcontroller connected to an e-paper display. Once a day it wakes from deep sleep, connects to the local Wi-Fi network, reads the upcoming entries from the owner’s Google Calendar, renders them on the display, and goes back to sleep. There is no server, no cloud component and no companion app.

Who can use it

The application runs entirely on hardware in the operator’s own home and is used exclusively by the operator. It is not offered to, distributed to, or usable by any other person. It is a personal maker project, not a product.

Access to Google data

To display the appointments, the device requests read-only access to the operator’s Google Calendar (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly). No calendar data leaves the device, and nothing is stored on any server.
